Its official the 2020 camping season has begun. Christened under the (wild) Flower Full Moon, in the big Douglas Fir woods, on the edge of a meadow ~ Groove’s PrairieConsidered “Dispersed” camping vs. “Developed” Campground camping. Unless an area is designated for no camping you can camp anywhere on National Forest land (this is called dispersed camping). Popular dispersed areas, usually old hunter camps, may have amenities (like toilets) to mitigate resource damage. During fire season Dispersed Camping has greater campfire restrictions (ALWAYS a campfire permit is required).Groove’s Prairie has three sites with tables and fire rings, one vault toilet, totally quiet, wild and dark. Two miles as the raven flies from the Trinity Alps Wilderness. This place is this car tent campers dream come true!!
