The re-wilding of Patti J.…I think I’m turning feral.
Make my floors out of oak leaves & pine needles
My ceiling tree branches, sun and stars
My night light the moon
Tell the birds to bring me the morning news
And the owl and the vixen bedtime stories
I’ll share my hemoglobin with mosquitoes (just a little bit)
So they can feed the bats
& the birds
& the spiders
The squirrels will school me in persistence
And I’ll learn courage from the bear
All the while the deer, as she steps quietly by
with eyes large and brown and knowing,
will show me, I too can be a pathfinder
